4 Reasons To Sleep Naked

As the nights get cooler, its tempting to reach for the flannel PJ's.  But before you bust out that mood killing onesie, here's the top 4 reasons why you should consider grabbing an extra blanket so you can sleep naked instead.

1. Sleeping naked helps you sleep better

Our bodies naturally cool down while we sleep and warm slightly just before waking.  The insulating effect of clothing can interrupt this natural cycle leading to a disturbed more sleep.

2. Sleeping cooler could help you lose weight

A study conducted by the US National Institute of Health found that keeping yourself cool while you sleep speeds the body’s metabolism because your body creates more brown fat to keep you warm. Brown fat produces heat by burning calories (300 times more heat than any organ in the body), and this boosts your metabolism all day long to help you lose weight.

3. Sleeping naked is good for your private parts

Many specialists recommend sleeping naked as a way for your skin to breathe, which is especially important for women. Yeast infections, thrive in warm moist areas, which can be created while sleeping in pajamas.  For the boys, being too warm can effect the quality of their sperm.

4. Sleeping naked next to a partner boosts your immune system

Skin-to-skin contact releases oxytocin in your brain, also known as the ‘love hormone’.  Not only could this help your relationship, but it also boosts your immune system, steadies cortisol levels and lowers blood pressure.

If you're still not convinced that naked is best, make sure you opt for loose fitting (ideally "bottomless") sleepwear in natural fabrics like our beautifully soft cotton Sleep T-Shirt
